This is a teaser trailer for the mod that the 'French Studios' company I mentioned I might do some coding for released today. Looks pretty impressive.
Also been thinking about programming a music visualizer, and possibly trying to mix some songs of my own. We'll see how it goes!
Alright cool so this is a blog for me to vent, discuss, and teach about things I know, experiences I have...experienced, and to ramble on when I'm avoiding homework/work.

And... I'm back.
Phew, what a semester.
I'd rather not even think about it all so I'm not going to say much about it. This semester was full of:
1. Work being lame, and expecting things done even when I don't get feedback from them.
2. Studying relentlessly and hopeless of getting any decent grade (in some classes)
3. Social withdraw, I guess it's something that comes with my major :/
4. Procrastinating like a mad man.
That's pretty much it! I'm glad the summer is here and I now have more time to do things I enjoy (and to finish up some projects!).
One thing I did make during this semester is a game called 'SphereBattle,' you can find it here.
Might seem pointless if you're playing by yourself. It's supposed to be for multiple people who log in from a different computer. It's a game a lot like 'Pong' back in the day, except the tiny ball in the middle stands still, and you and your enemy try and push the tiny ball with your bigger ball to either side. Kind of confusing, but fun when you get a lot of people playing it, haha. It was a pretty big hit in one of my classes (even though it didn't win the prize :/) That was my first game to program for the network. Took me a while, but once I got the concept down it was pretty simple.
Now Summer, there are many things to get done. I need to finish up the UAPD website, and then bail out. They've been sooo horrible with communication lately, and that is something that really bugs me. I've wanted to have that project done for a long time now. I also have a friends wedding to go to this weekend. It's an hour outside of Fayetteville and I've got to find someone to go with me because I won't know ANYONE else haha. A friend of mine (Tara) said she might go with me, but I guess we'll see. She said to see if theres an open bar or not hahaha.
Next I'll be starting my senior design. Every senior in the CSCE Department here at U of A has to do a senior design project to graduate. We take one class each semester to help us complete the project, called Capstone I and II. I plan on starting mine in a couple weeks. What I plan to do is make a completely done three dimensional game that is entirely polished and working perfectly. I want it to be the real deal, so it's going to take me quite some time to get it done. That's why I'm starting now. I think I will be working closely with one of the professors on campus and come up with some ideas for it. I plan on making some game that involves the action and destruction involved in FPS (First Person Shooters) and the experience and quest based play that one experiences RPGs (Role Playing Games). It's something I've always wanted to see properly combined, but nothing has ever really done it right. This project should be fun and a challenge all year. Exciting to finally be doing something big :). Hopefully this will be acceptable as a senior design project, which has to be approved by the department head. I think it will since it's the field I am wanting to go into and involves everything I have ever learned in college, the only exception being it doesn't benefit anyone really. Most projects deal with practical solutions to things, while this project would just be for entertainment. We'll see. Regardless of what happens, it'll be something to put on the resume.
Now I get a haircut tomorrow and it'll be time to head home and visit the family. Haven't really been back since February, woops!
Scott, a friend of mine, moved into the apartment officially today. There was this HUGE couch that JUST WOULDN'T fit into the room he is in. I was getting SO upset. We ended up sawing the legs off the couch and finally fitting it in. I felt like I cheated a little bit but I don't care, as long as it's over with! haha. Tara is going to be up here this summer taking Calculus II with me so that'll be intense. It's my second time taking it, and her first. I'll probably be doing a lot of teaching but that also helps me understand things! I'm weirdly excited about getting a A in the class haha. Anyway the three of us hang out a lot, and they are the main people I hang out in Fayetteville anyway, so I'm glad they are here.

Scott's eye is red because he got shot by an Airsoft gun haha! Oh man I remember playing with those things back in the day.
Anyways I'm off to go get familiar with C++ or go to sleep, haven't really decided yet. Hopefullllly sleep, been having a rough time with it lately! Oh well, keep posted, i'm sure I will be posting a lot more since summer is here and I have a LOT more time.

Great Success!

I freaking rock, just letting you guys know.
I finally got the Google Web Toolkit to work, FINALLY. Also, with the EXT library that allows for more cool little 'widgets' (complicated term for you non-tech savvy folk out there) and drag and drop menus. You can check it out here. I didn't make that site, but it's a demo that Google created to show you some of the powerful stuff it has in store. I can now add these to the sites I design and integrated databases and PHP scripts to them (very, extremely useful, makes a site cool).
The reason it took me so long was because I was never able to find a solid tutorial on how to install this library into NetBeans (an IDE ->Integrated Development Environment<- that I use for basically all of my coding I've ever done), and all I could find was a tutorial to install into Eclipse (another IDE, one I despise). I finally found this page here that explained thoroughly the process of which one would go about installing into NetBeans. However, one of his links to the Ext SDK ->Software Development Kit<- was mislinked, and lead you to the Ext SDK, which you just needed the ExtJS zip file to install. So if you've found this page randomly on the net in search for GWT Ext install to NetBeans, beware. Download THIS version, the only version GWTExt is compatible with.Three weeks of my life, gone.
However, I did begin classes this week. I started out signed up for only 9 hours, so I was in a hurry to find another class to sign up for. I put up a post on facebook asking people what I should take, and I got things like "People and Insects" and "Death and Dying." There was some pretty funny stuff to come up. I finally found an opening in Elementary German I, so GUTEN TAG! I've always been interested in German, just never thought I would be learning. Hey, I needed three hours. Quiz on Wednesday! oh boy! haha. I'm taking Operating Systems as well, which will be a decent class since all the people I see around in my major are in that class, so we're all familiar with eachother and that makes things more comfortable, I guess is the word for it. After OS I have a class called Formal Languages, of which my book is labeled (intimidatingly so) "Automata Theory, Languages, and Computation" along with "Regular Expressions." Automata? What does that word even mean? I guess I'll find out, haha. Oh wait, wikipedia says this about Automata Theory
--In theoretical computer science, automata theory is the study of abstract machines and problems which they are able to solve.
Theoretical Computer Science? Oh Lord, this may, just may, be a hard class. The professor defined it the first day as "A class that teaches you the theory on how to prove mathematically if there is an algorithm for the actual problem you are trying to solve, and how to disprove that an algorithm exists for the given problem if one doesn't exist." I think everyone heard me go "Oh god..." in the back, haha. I'm sure I'll be updating you guys on how this goes.
Lastly, I'm taking a course named "Programming MMO's" which is a class to design addons for the game World of Warcraft. As many of you know, I was extremely into this game and I think I have about 90 days of my life logged into that game. It all pays off in the end, no one believed me, but I told you guys that playing video games would pay off. (Sorry, had to say it, and damn it felt good). Another option in this class is to design your own MUD ->Multi-User Dungeon<-. I have a couple friends in there that want to work together and create a multi user game, that involves vehicles, blowing up other players, and running over unsuspecting pedestrians. I hope the professor will go for it, we present our game to the class on Tuesday. I think as a side project I am going to go ahead and design this addon that I had an idea for at the beginning of the class. I'm going to implement the WoW Trading Card Game in the actual game, so users that like to play can play from across the world if they want, because right now the people have to go physically to the person to actually play. I am not into the card game, but a friend of mine had the idea, and it's possible that millions of users would use the addon, if it was done correctly. That's my line up for the semester, and my earliest class on MWF is 1030 (not bad) and T/Th it's at 2:00 pm. I don't think I'll have any excuses to skip class this semester, and for some reason all of them are taking attendence, like I'm a freshman in the Business college or something (no offense Rach :P). For some reason all CSCE people make fun of business people that roam around in our building, I think the Business college has a few classes in our building (JBHunt) but it's mostly CSCE. Oh, we make many jokes.
I've started working out with a friend, Scott Stark up here. Getting into a routine and dang does my body hurt. It's the first time I've worked out in like 9 months, and I feel a lot better now that I'm in a routine. Having someone there to yell at you when you decide to quit early also helps, so yeah. I try to keep up with him, but he's in ROTC and is in dang good shape. Not something a Computer Science major should be expected to keep up with, haha!
Now I sit at my desk, like the insomniac I am, and not tired at all. I need to go to sleep so I can wake up tomorrow, but I'm hungry as crap. I would go get food but it's like 5 degrees outside (Arctic Front?? Global warming my ass). I think I'm going to go make a website for myself, because I'm a badA and have this new tool I can work with. Hmm maybe wendy's is worth freezing for....
My roommate and his friend talked me into signing up for softball intramural when it starts back up. I told them it would've been the first sport I'd played in about 8 years, but I'm down. Should be pretty fun, except I'm not going out there until the sun comes out and it's warm again.
I was in Wal-Mart with Scott the other day while we were waiting on my car to get serviced and we looked through the toy section. I stumbled upon the hot wheels section and nearly freaked out at all my memories of playing with the toy cars all the time. I wish I had time for that, and I could play with them without feeling like I was a loser or getting judged, because I really think I still would if I even had time. I miss being a kid (I know I'm not old, but still). Having to think about bills, eating, classes, future, work, pursuit of women, is kind of a pain. I want to be carefree like I was back then. Freaking setting up huge battles with my army men and playing out wars over hours and hours in the living room was a blast. No one realizes how hard it was for me to resist tearing that Hot Wheels Stunt Kit open and setting it up right there in the aisle. I think the kid next to me had the same idea as well.
Alright, I am currently Wendy's bound and I am finished typing my novel. If you made it this far, I'm proud of you, and you deserve this. I don't even think I'm going to re read over the post since it was so long :P
Nite.

Cantenna

Alright so I'm back up in Fayetteville, alrightttttttt. Haven't been doing too much up here, just doing some research on this whole website thing. I got back up here on Tuesday morning after being re routed Monday night. I was evidently 20 minutes behind a 8 car pile up with three fatalities on a bridge. Pretty scary. I was driving along the highway and saw an ambulance and firetruck blocking the road and pushing traffic to the off ramp. I pulled into a gas station and the lady there told me what was going on. I said.. "So.. I guess that means turn around and go home?" Probably the best choice.
Up in Fayetteville I've just been hanging with Scott Stark and Tara Braddy mostly, all my Fayetteville friends aren't coming back until this weekend, it'll be good seeing them all. Today I woke up and went to wash my car as I had a ton of winter crap all over it. The best feeling in the world is after spending 4 dollars and time, and waiting for your car to dry off, to actually realize the spot not car wash didn't do anything to your car. I might have to make a trip home just to wash my car by hand, I mean geez it looks just as bad as it was. Went to Wal Mart and got some Doritoes and Strawberry Fanta, a SOCOM tradition. Since then I've been on the computer building websites and trying to fix a friends computer, which I think I screwed up big time, but eh, oh well. At least it's nice to get caught up on this google web toolkit, it's so freaking powerful, when I know how to use it easily I will be able to do some awesome stuff no doubt.
As for SOCOM we've had two clan matches this week, as we are participating in a tournament for the month. We lost the first war because one of our team members got disconnected, but we lost by one round at least. Last nights war I didn't play in, but we won that 8-2, which is pretty freaaaaaaking good. They're pretty cool people, except they argue sometimes. I'm helping them redo their website as well. Web development is a such a huge deal, definitely a potential career in it. Everyone needs one, geez.
This post was kind of boring, but I was bored. And only boring people get bored, right mom?
Oh yeah and I fell in love with a waitress at a local restaurant (foghorn's). No big deal, she's just an angel on earth. After getting advice from many different sources as to what range of time is not creepy to return back to the restaurant. I've settled on 4 days. Timing is everything!! hahaha god I'm lame. I'll be sure to let you guys know how it goes :P
